UNIKA show comes to U.S.A. by L.E. Stirrup

For the first time on American soil, the UNIKA-USA, an extraordinary one-of-a-kind wood sculpture exhibit, will be presented from July 3 to 6 at the Rollins Gallery in Edwards Village Center, Vail Valley, Colo. UNIKA is an acronym for an organization of professional wood sculptors who show new ideas and concepts in hand-carved works. The UNIKA exhibits are held annually in the town of Ortisei in the South Tirol region of northern Italy.

This is a rare chance not only to meet these artists in person, but to view the hand-made creations that appeal to everyone who values the individuality of fine wood sculpture. The artists all speak several languages, and this unusual forum affords visitors the opportunity to interact with them as they work.

The exhibit serves as a focal point for potential customers, enabling them to see in a few days at a single location an assortment of unique, high-quality wood creations. The participating artists’ work encompasses a wide range of techniques and styles, along with their broad age range, education and experience, all making this exhibit truly unique.

Giuseppe Rumerio started his career as a sculptor in art school and continued studying under the guidance of master sculptors. Born in 1949, he is a keen hunter with a passion for observing animals, thus most of his works focus on them and their lifestyles. His sculptures can be seen in Turin, and at the Louvre’s des Antiquaries in Paris. For more info on UNIKA-USA, call Anita Griesbaum, owner of the Rollins Gallery, (970) 926-9233.
