Having completed more than 1200 hours of study with master carvers in Québec and especially in the United States, Rondo participated in several exhibitions and contests in Québec, Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, New York and South Carolina. Rondo also received a gold medal for the best animal and best North American Indian trophy at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
In 19 years, he has carved nearly 500 sculptures, unique pieces from two inches to 10 feet high, in the round to deep relief, representing people, animals, fishes, birds, ducks, modern sculptures, etc. He also carved stone and made two bronzes for a museum in Québec City. Rondo has been commissioned by churches to carve religious works including “The Last Supper.” One carving, “The Trapper,” was given to Marc Garneau, the first Canadian astronaut, in November 1984.
Rondo particularly likes to carve the American Indian, evoking with sensitivity their customs, bravery and dignity. (See cover photo.)
