The 13th annual Woodcarving Rendezvous was conducted at the Convention Center of the Compton Ridge Campground in Branson, Mo., June 1 through 7, 1997. Carvers from all over the nation and Canada traveled to Branson to attend the seminar. They included both experienced and those new to carving. Classes offered were Caricature, Relief, Realistic Animal, and Realistic Human Figure. All classes were full, as usual.
The Compton Ridge Campground Convention Center is the perfect setting for such a seminar. The Center is nestled in the woods in the beautiful Ozark Mountains just about five miles west of Branson. The atmosphere, the enthusiasm of all those in attendance and the quality of the seminar proved once again that the Rendezvous continues to be one of the very best experiences offered to woodcarving in the U.S.A.
The seminar offered caricature classes taught by Ed Zinger, Bobbie Thurman, Gerald Sears, and Phil Bishop; a relief class by John Engler; realistic animal, taught by Debbe Edwards (see cover photo), and realistic human figure classes taught by Jeff Phares and Gerald Copeland.
