(Click to view... 71KB)The beautiful Mother and Child relief gracing our cover is the artistry of Emile Levy, of Taos, New Mexico. Carved in sugar pine it measure 12 by 15.25 by 1.75 inches. The 61-year-old restaurant operator has been carving since 1982. His work ranges from animals and figures to high and low relief. Among his favorite woods is Honduras mahogany, sugar pine, jelutong, and basswood. We present three more examples of his outstanding reliefs (in the magazine). Emile also belongs to the Taos Artist Association.
